New Dublin Voices was founded by conductor Bernie Sherlock in October 2005. It has since become a leading Irish chamber choir, presenting concert programmes that are fresh, innovative, and exciting, ranging widely in style and period from the medieval to the contemporary. The choir takes special pleasure in exploring the often weird and wonderful music of living composers, and strongly believes that NDV performances win over audiences to new music. NDV has given the Irish premières of many contemporary pieces including James Macmillan Cantos Sagrados and Penderecki Stabat Mater, and premieres of seven new works by Irish composers.
The choir has been a regular participant in competitions since 2006. Awards won include National Choir of the Year in 2006, 2008 and 2009 (Navan Choral Festival); National Choir of the Festival at the Cork International Choral Festival 2006 (and three other awards); the Schütz Trophy in the Fleischmann International Trophy Competition in Cork 2007; first-prize in both mixed-choir competitions at the Dublin Feis Ceoil in 2006, 2007, 2008; three first-prizes and the Rosebowl Award at the 2008 Bangor International Choral Festival; the prize for 'Best New Work' at the 2008 Florilège Vocal de Tours (France); and the inaugural first-prize from Lyric fm for best performance of a specially commissioned Christmas carol. More recently New Dublin Voices won the inaugural ESB Feis Ceoil Choir of the Year as well as 1st prize in the Mixed Choir Competition and Best Adult Choir. In April the choir competed in the 12th Budapest International Choir Competition where it won the chamber choir competition and then the Grand Prix. Bernie Sherlock received a prize for the best conductor at the competition.
NDV has appeared on television regularly. Recent engagements include featuring with The Priests at their debut Armagh concert which was broadcast nationwide in the USA and Canada on the PBS network. The choir was also honoured to be invited to perform at the official launch in October 2008 of the Arts Council's first ever policy document for choral music, Raising Your Voice.
The singers who make up New Dublin Voices come from many backgrounds but share in common high levels of experience and musicianship, a commitment to attracting new audiences, and above all a love of performing excellent choral music.
Dublin ~ Louth ~ Galway Concerts (Something beginning with 'B')

Imagine confining yourself to a single letter.
"Platoon" and "Peter Pan" in a month watching only films starting with "P". Cornflakes and carrot-cake on a day devoted to food beginning with "C".
For their winter concerts on November 21, 22 & 28, the international award-winning New Dublin Voices have done just that: everything in the concert begins with "B".
What could have been a constraint in fact proved liberating. NDV burrowed deeply into all that "B" has to offer and came up with a wonderful programme embracing the new – the 2008 surround-sound effect of Sea Swell by Irish composer Enda Bates – and old – madrigals by Bennet in the 16th century – and the familiar – Brahms, Bartók, Britten and Bernstein – and the excitingly obscure – an incredible, unforgettable piece by one Wolfram Buchenberg.
And to round things off, some Beatles, some Barbershop. And The Barber of Seville.
"B" there!
